Julian is well worth visiting for the annual apple festival.

Mother Goose Parade

The annual Mother Goose parade is something that kicks off the holidays for the younger children. This event takes place the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year and includes a parade in East County that includes floats with the Mother Goose theme, horse, bands and clowns. This is an ideal, free parade for the kids.

Annual Holiday Of Lights Drive Through Show

If you are looking for the largest animated light show in the west coast, you have found it at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. There is a fee per car, but you get to drive through 400 different displays of lights at the fairgrounds. This event is held from Thanksgiving Day until the day after New Year's Day. It is an ideal way to celebrate the holidays with your family and the cost is only a nominal fee per car.

Cannon Photography Photo Contest

If you enjoy photography, you might enjoy entering the Cannon Photography contest. This is held for the first three weeks of April every year and offers you ca chance to participate in the Cannon workshop as well as view the Flower Fields of Carlsbad, which is where the event occurs. There is a small fee to join the contest and participate in the workshop of not more than $10.

KIFM Jazz Festival

San Diego, like most other cities, has a jazz festival. This is located in the downtown area and is sponsored by the Gaslamp Quarter Association. Jazz bands from all over come to play at this festival that takes place on the second to the last Saturday of May each year and takes place at the Gaslamp, but ends up spilling out into different clubs.

San Diego County Fair

The San Diego County Fair is held in the last two weeks of August each year at the county fair grounds. If you have not been to a county fair, you will find that the San Diego County Fair is one of the bet places to start. There are traditional fair activities such as contests for pies and other foods as well as a carnival and lots of foods. There is also entertainment galore at the San Diego County Fair.

Bharatpur-Indian birds paradise

Birds are nature's miracle creatures having unbelievable beauty.Visiting any place having plenty of these creatures is a wonderful experience.

It was 6 am and we were cycling towards the birder's paradise in a foggy, chilled December morning. It was early morning, and there was great hustle and hustle in the waters.I was mesmerized to see the vast variety of avian life congregated at a single place i.e. Keoladeo Ghana National Park(KGNP).I let my
camera work and concentrated on a lone endangered Black-necked stork which was hunting in shallow waters near the road alongwith a group of magnificent spoon-bills.These two species are clear examples of nature's creativity. After 2-3 hours of busy photo-session, We decided to relax and have our breakfast which we brought with us. Then move ahead to explore other areas of the national park. 

On the way, we saw water pumping machines installed by park authorities in order to maintain adequate water levels. The park is facing severe water shortage and its ramifications were evident as I saw big sized dead fish on the water surface. We reached an ancient temple of local diety named Keoladeo.The park derived its name from this deity who is worshipped by local people. Historically this place was hunting ground of maharajas of Bharatpur.KGNP is situated on Delhi-Agra national highway-road diverts at Mathura which is about two hours journey from Capital State, Delhi & Bharatpur is  about 34 kms from here.We rushed to a spot where single pair of Siberian cranes were located. I enjoyed the sight of our guests standing close to their native cousin–Sarus cranes.

 The park was full of immense variety of birds. Officially over 300 species of avian life visit, inhabit this tiny oasis of life.This is truly a birder's paradise and a great conglomeration of vast variety of exotic migratory birds from all parts of the world. The bird migration is a very unique and wonderful phenomenon where numerous birds travelled thousands of kilometers with new borns to reach their fixed winter sojourns. This is an annual phenomena that has bewildered scientists who have put forward various theories to explain this. KGNP is a historical place in this context. It is a place for ornithologists, amateur bird watchers, trigger-happy people like us and ordinary nature lovers.

The beauty of the park is its ban on all kinds of vehicles. Only rickshaws & bicycles are allowed inside the park.It is very easy to get a bicycle on daily charges of Rs.40-50 which is provided by hotels/lodges. Besides, rickshaws are available on cheap rates and these rickshaw pullers can also act as guides. There are a large number of hotels, lodges  available at very cheap rates near the entry point of  KGNP. The place is accessible by bus & railways. Best season to visit this place is November –February. This place deserves a visit.

The Oklahoma City Ford Center is a multipurpose indoor arena that hosts sports events, musical concerts and other shows, school sporting events and community events. Tenants of the center are the NBA team Oklahoma City Thunder, Central Hockey League team Oklahoma City Blazers and the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of the Arena football2 league (af2).

The Ford Center was an MAPS initiative and was conc

Harry Potter Wizarding World At Universal Studios

I recently had the opportunity to visit Universal & Islands of Adventure the other day and got to see first hand the progress of Harry Potter Wizarding World that is set to open in 2010.

I was also able to get a few photo's and you can tell by them that it is going to be very big and very exciting. The downfall to all the construction going on right now is that
he Dueling Dragons ride is a very busy area right now since that is the area of the new attraction.

There was a lot of people checking out the different sights that they could see to grab photo's of the soon to be attraction.

You could really see the excitement in the true Die Hard Harry Potterfans who was looking thru every crevices to see the construction guys working on the attraction.

I have been going to Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure for many years and for years The Hulk and Spiderman have always been my favorite part, but I do believe that when this is finished, Harry Potterwill become my all time favorite and I am sure that it will become everybody else's too.

Also I didn't get any good shots but was also able to see how Rip Ride 'n' Rockit was doing and by the way it looks , this Roller Coaster is on track to open in the early spring just in time for the big rushes that come to Universal Studios every year during Spring Break and Easter.

New York: Looking back at the New York Yankees

This popular All-American baseball team was actually known as the Highlanders during its humble beginnings, but apparently the nickname Highlanders couldn't really catch on fast with the local sportswriters which is why they often used the monicker Yankees or Yanks (the nickname Yankees were actually coined from the fact that the New York Yankees were an All-American team while  American locals are actually referred to as Yanks mostly by the British).

As the interlocking NY insignia gained more and more popularity, the New York Yankees decided to incorporate it at the front part of their uniforms while having matching navy blue baseball caps. The immensely popular interlocking NY insignia was actually designed way back in 1877 by a fellow named Louis B. Tiffany who originally designed the popular insignia for a NYPD officer named John McDowell who was highly regarded at that time for his bravery and dedication to his work. Mr. McDowell was actually the first New York police officer who was shot during the time of duty. Bill Devery, who was a former police chief as well as one of the New York Yankees original owners chose the popular insignia for the New York Yankees' uniforms, he made the insignia a permanent fixture on the baseball players' uniforms. The official team colors of the New York Yankees are Navy Blue, Red and White. While the New York Yankees team motto is courage, tradition and heart. While there are actually two New York Yankees songs, the official song being "Here Comes the Yankees" while the unofficial song is "New York, New York". From 1903 up to the present, the New York Yankees had several managers, 41 all in all, starting with Clark Griffith to Joe Torre (the current New York Yankees manager from the year 1996 up to the present).
